Monument to Dostoevsky

On November 19, the opening of the monument to F. Dostoevsky took place in the city of Salou (Catalonia, Spain), near the municipal library. A solemn ceremony was held, which was attended by the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Barcelona Alexander Yuryevich Penkov, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo in Spain Sergey Alexandrovich Sarymov, the mayor of Salou Pere Granados, the vice-mayor for culture Javier Montola, the president of the Association for the Center for Russian Language and Culture. Dostoevsky Antonio Rodriguez and director of the Russian school “Azbuka” of the Association. Dostoevsky Irina Gorkova.
The sculpture is installed at the ever-running spring. Water eternally flows from the wall, as a symbol of the spring of Dostoevsky’s genius, which carries the purity and transparency of the idea of kindness – “Beauty will save the world if it is kind.” Even here on the edge of Europe, in the distant Spanish Catalonia, the Russian writer is known and loved.
I would like to express my deep gratitude to Irina Gorkova and Antonio Rodriguez, who managed to come to an agreement with the local authorities and brought this project to a brilliant conclusion! They are true patriots of Russian culture on the Iberian Peninsula.
